Intern - Materials Engineering (Eden Prairie)
The 2020 Materials Engineering summer internship is designed to provide you with hands-on experience in Materials Development within Stratasys.
The Materials Development Intern will support the activities of the Advanced Materials Research and Development team in the development and characterization of materials for Fused Deposition Modeling (FDM) systems. The Materials Intern will be supervised by Materials Engineering team members and will be given a variety of technical projects to support the overall goals of the organization. Travel between Eden Prairie, MN and River Falls, WI facilities is required.
Assist Materials Engineers in the development of new thermoplastic compositions for Fused Deposition Modeling (FDM) systems
Use chemical, thermal, and physical property methods (e.g. DSC, rheology, flammability, tensile/flexural, etc.) to characterize the melt processing, FDM printing, and printed part characteristics of thermoplastic materials
Current enrollment in a Bachelor’s level program in a STEM field, such as Materials Science, Polymer Science, Chemical Engineering, Chemistry, Physics, or Mathematics.
Two years of higher education must be completed at the start of the internship period.
Demonstrated laboratory skills
Must have reliable transportation to travel between Stratasys locations
Hands-on experience with 3D printing technologies desired
Excellent communication skills, including technical writing and oral presentations, to be able to summarize and present on the conclusions of their work

The Stratasys, Inc. Summer Internship Program is designed to give interns a holistic view of what Stratasys has to offer from a multitude of departments. Our 12-week paid program begins in May and goes through mid-August. During the program each intern is embedded in real time projects, which they contribute to or even lead depending on their experience level. Our Campus team helps to educate, train, and grow our interns through Monthly activity such as 3D printing trainings, Lunch & Learn seminars, and Coffee Talks with department leaders. We also try hosting offsite team building activities to promote networking among the group through volunteer events.
