The Test Engineer will perform technical activities leading to new or improved products or processes that have significant impact on the company. This role will create test plans and lead testing activities to assure that our new products meet customers’ requirements.

What you will be doing:

  • Creates test plans and leads testing for Materials, Sustaining Engineering projects, and ancillary devices (tanks, etc.)

  • Leads 1-2 Test Technicians to complete testing

  • Sets up data acquisition using dataloggers

  • Uses Minitab for basic statistical data analysis and to analyze DOE data

  • Leads completion of gage R&Rs that have been setup

  • Creates fixtures in SolidWorks

  • Analyzes data and clearly communicates tests results, issues, and status

  • Writes clear test procedures to document how testing is performed

  • Writes clear, concise test reports that document test results. Organizes test reports and data for easy retrieval

  • Consistently follows procedures for documentation and document storage and assures that all testing and documentation meet ISO requirements

  • Uses basic statistics when presenting data

  • Proactively communicates schedule, budget and status

  • Actively engages with the project team on important topics such as test issues and how to accomplish the team's goals

  • Coordinates with other team leads and team members to resolve test issues and provide technical information

  • Creates new tests with guidance

  • Researches test methods and equipment

  • Improves tests and equipment

Must have for this role:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or related discipline with a minimum of 2+ years or related experience; or an advanced degree without experience

  • 2+ years’ experience in testing or mechanical engineering

Nice to have:

  • Degree in Mechanical Engineering and Master’s degree preferred

  • Clear and concise written and verbal communication

  • Demonstrated ability to work in an engineering team environment and clearly communicate technical status of assigned projects.

  • Experience developing test plans, setting up test equipment, recording data, and analyzing data

  • Good working knowledge of data analysis tools

  • Demonstrated ability to lead test technicians

  • Demonstrated ability to handle multiple projects at the same time

  • Broad knowledge of different types of test equipment for electro-mechanical testing

  • Ability to work well with others

  • Previous experience using 3D printers

  • 3D CAD experience

Travel required: 5%
